Alexis: I'm not so worried about the 2am feedings as I am about when they start crawling and getting into things... they will go off in all different directions and there's only two of us.

Alex: There is that.... we'll have to childproof the mansion.....you know.... maybe since there's four of them.... maybe they'll keep each other busy and not go looking for trouble.....

Alexis: They'll keep each other busy by looking for trouble... I wonder if that's why the original Nicholas started the family wrestling tradition, to try and keep his kids out of trouble.

Alexis: How did the whole Legacy begin exactly? And the tradition with the mates? I got some of it, but it was this person did this, then his son did this, so on and so forth.

Re: A very OP Christmas Part 1...
Alex: Well, the Legacy began with Sir Nicholas of course.... he was just a natural in all forms of combat.....he bagan as an ordinary soldier, then through various acts of valor he became promoted to the King's Royal Guard, saved his life on many occasions. Despite his skill he was not a violent man..... he carried himself with dignity and kindness..... some scholars believe he was the origin of the achetype of the "chivalrous knight"
Although he had fought for real, and killed.... he preferred to practice his skills in controlled friendly challenges with fellow knights from across the kingdom, with set rules laid down before hand..... his prefferred competition was unarmed, hand to hand combat.... eventually these rules became standardised in the earliest rules for catch-as-catch-can. Of course Sir Nicholas had children.... who admired their father greatly, so Sir Nicholas trained them.... and eventually his children took over from him as protectors of the realm.... of course over the years the times changed.... the era of knights came to an end.... and the Edwards' roles changed from protecting the crown... to protecting the warrior's way of life that was so cheirshed by their ancestors.... they saw it as a way to keep the ones they loved safe.... not only from physical harm.... but also from fear and self-doubt.... it taught them how to excel at whatever they wanted to achieve..... so the teaching continued to eveolve.... and be passed down.... and be forged in the sport Sir Nicholas helped to create....

Alexis: I'll assume the initiation was part of that, to make sure there would be children to carry on the Legacy....

Alex: The initiation was purely designed to test the love of the person being initiated..... they wanted to know that the person being initiated knew what it was like to be willing to die for someone they loved....

Alexis: But... don't the Edwards already know who their mates are?
She glances in the backseat.
Alexis: Will they know?

Alex: They will.... one day they will meet someone they love as completely as I love you.... wouldn't you want to make damn sure that person is worthy of that level of total devotion.... that they were capable of feeling the same....

Alexis: I know... it's silly... I suppose it's easier than wondering how good of a mother I'll be. We have to raise them to be possible Legacies. It's just a little daunting... no, scratch that, just one would be a little daunting and we have four... with no experience whatsoever.

Alexis: Both hands on the wheel! Sorry.... How do we know which one is the Legacy... and how do we make sure the others don't feel slighted that they aren't?

Alex puts his hand back on the wheel.
Alex: Traditionally it's the eldest son of the previous Legacy.... so it would be Connor.... but it's just a title.... The Legacy doesn't get special priveleges or extra respect.... my dad and Erin were always treated equally... as were me, mandy, Jay and Gabe.

Alexis smiles.
Alexis: And Gabe started something with being the protector... so one of them....
She giggles.
Alexis: I'm so curious how their personalities turn out. Elizabeth took to Jayden right away.
