Colin:"I...see...umm..."
he rubs the back of his neck
"You know those questions that come up that could bite me in the ass?...I've got one."

Re: Random Preggo Thread.
Colin:"Okay...you're family has discovered all these cures for injuries and...whatever else...over seven generations of stuff...so I can't help but wonder why you haven't shared all this with the rest of the world. I mean I know you're family does give a damn about the medical world. Look at Jillian for crying out loud. You know how big a difference things like this could make in the world? How could your family NOT want to produce things like this to benefit more then a small circle of people?"

Re: Random Preggo Thread.
Amanda: We've considered the possibilities of doing so...... but the thing is.... we're not sitting on the cure to Cancer.... or Aids..... it just helps speed up the recovery of broken bones, cuts, bruises etc. So we would perhaps save some people a little discomfort in the short term.... but in the long term we would be putting a lot of damn good doctors, surgeons and nurses out of work and ruining a lot of families who depend on their income......
Much of the time Colin.... a noble ideal is in fact the greater of two evils....

Re: Random Preggo Thread.
Colin folds his arms, shaking his head
Colin:"Okay, in first world countries that seems logical. But what about third world areas where doctors and other such medical supplies are hard to come by? What about war zones? Natural disasters where theres a sudden influx bigger then the medical care available like during Katrina in New Orleans or in Haiti? This is hardly going to put doctors out of work. People still need bones set and all of that stuff. But damm if it wouldn't help them..."

Re: Random Preggo Thread.
Amanda: OK...... Thirld World Countries..... the ointment can deal with minor bruising.... but it will not heal cuts, broken bones or sepsis..... in order to heal that the patients must bathe in a solution of our salts and CLEAN water..... that much water could keep a family alive for MONTHS you think it should be wasted healing a broken bone that any witchdoctor could mend with two sticks and a vine?
War Zones and Natural disasters.... on those situations the first priority of a field medic is to treat life threatening injuries.... not broken bones..... broken bones can if neccessary be treated days or even weeks later with little ill effect..... besides..... the salts speed up healing time.... not treatment time.... the bone still needs to be set by someone who knows what they're doing for it to work.
That's ignoring the fact that the salts can only be cultivated in very specific conditions and could never be produced in the quantity needed for a natural diaster.
Look Colin..... I know that we can give the impression of being closed off.....ignorant and uncaring of the outside world.... but that isn't the case. We have looked into the possibilities of using our knowledge to help mankind and found that it would do little good...... we accomplish far more good with the MILLIONS of dollars we contribute each year to the training of doctors in third world countries, red cross relief efforts and medical research into diseases that actually KILL people.... and we have been doing so for as long as the family has had wealth.
It was Edwards funding that helped vaccinate against Tuburculosis, it was Edwards funding that helped vaccinate against Spanish Influenza.... and it is Edwards money that is currently running trials into a new vaccine against Cervical Cancer at the very Hospital my mother is Cheif of Medicine at.....
But you wont see any of the contributions in the press because we make the donations annonymously.....

Amanda: I'd like to say I've been to busy to do that..... what with Lexi being pregnant and all...... but Alex seems insistent on taking care of everything personally.
