Ashley:"Fine...you really want me side of the story? Okay fine. I told yer mother exactly 'ow you found out about everything I did to that family. 'ow I unknowingly ended up as part of that..wot ever it is they put you through before they would accept you or wotever. All that stuff that...well you didn't deserve to find out that way...
But anyways, Amanda 'appened to over 'ear. She started glaring at me so I simply asked if anything I said just then was a lie. 'ell, Alexis, you were there you know exactly wot 'appened that day.
I told 'er I was done with the self-pity thing and that I 'ad actually managed a conversation..a peaceful conversation...with Ewan just hours before.
Instead, she decided to bring out the "blissful twenty years" they 'ave 'ad without me in their lives. And 'ow I could 'ave killed 'er mother, and 'er, and 'er brother. And all the damage that did. And then..with that sarcastic tone I'll never get used to ...ask fer fergiveness over and over again asking if she should keep asking or stay out of me loif?
I, from wot I saw, didn't say a single thing to 'er as far as asking fer anything, I was just telling Moira wot 'appened when that door opened. There was no "woe is me, pity me arse."
It didnt exactly put me in the best mind set.."

Ashley:"That conversation started out fine...We talked about 'ow 'e felt about 'is situation..with 'is 'ead I mean. 'ow you and Colin will never become drunks loik the bastard who gave birth to you both...Giving you away at the wedding...I mentioned 'ow its nice that I can apparently shoot the shite with 'im and 'is father and that it was a shame that we couldn't seem to 'ave any conversations about real issues between us. Which apparently was once again translated as "I want to apologize even more." and once again I was reminded 'ow the family would never forgive me. Oh and I 'ad moments earlier said that I didn't want to be fergiven anymore. Something I reiterated soon afterwards. But it seemed like even when I said that, it translated as "I'm Ashley O'Ryan, and I am going to constantly ask fer forgiveness..."
Anyways, I decided to leave. The convo wasn't exactly getting either of us anywhere. My mind was foggy.
There was a quirk about me going to a pub. I did me best to act cool with it. Not make a big deal about it, although I do remember saying that I 'ad 'oped of all people, me soon to be son-in-law would be the one to not use me weakness loik that. That..it turns out..offended 'im and 'e walked off..."

he sighs

Ashley:"You're going to want to know wot 'appened after?"

Ashley:"...The pub comment 'urt. Really 'urt. I mean, I'm a recovering alcoholic. Between you and me, I don't think there 'as been a day gone by where some voice in me 'ead 'asn't gone "gee a nice stiff drink would be really nice." I foit with that every day. That's wot an addict is. They 'ave to foit with their addiction constantly or it beats them.
There was a time period...years...where I drank mostly because well...everybody thought I was drunk. 'ell back in the FWA I was sober fer almost a year but people still called me a drunk. So after a while I figured I'd just give them wot they expected of me. They called me a drunk, fine, I'd give them a drunk...
Anyways, I went out to me car and...fought with meself. I needed a private place to let that frustration out...before I ended up dead in the back o'some backwater pub or something.
Alex came out to...'elp me out or something. I guess to make sure I didn't do anything foolish. I told 'im to go away. Instead, 'e 'oped up on me 'ood. I honked...'e didn't budge...
I don't know wot I was thinking. I thought 'e would jump off the 'ood no problem if I backed up just a nudge. Maybe it jerked back to sudden or something, I want 'im to just 'op off the damn car not...

he sighs

"I brought 'im into the 'ospital and left. I...thought I 'ad ruined yer loif. That 'e was either dead or a vegetable...That I 'ad ruined another loif and that it was yours. Thats when I decided it would be best if I did meself in before I did anything else."

Alexis: I was hoping things weren't this bad... maybe I was just trying to fool myself... it probably is better for you to avoid the Edwards' altogether.

She looks pained.

Alexis: Which is going to be impossible at the wedding....

Ashley:"Alexis, its not as if I hate them, or go out of my way fer this stuff to 'appen.
And even if I did, it wouldn't 'appen at yer bloody wedding. So don't worry about it."

Alexis: Yeah, but until recently when I talked to you, you were drunk.

She becomes serious again, frowning thoughtfully.

Alexis: That could be part of the problem... if you came across as defensive you might have looked like you were trying to justify yourself... and you really can't justify what you did.

Alexis: I know you have to take off... and I need to get back. And let Colin know his sister wants to make sure he's in one piece. I haven't seen him since they got back.
