She chuckles ironically.

Alexis: It was really... I don't know... Alex was talking at first like it would be something down the road, then he turns around and asks right there....

She smiles a little at the memory and looks hopefully at Amber.

Alexis: I mean, if Colin asked you, you'd say yes too, right?

ER Doctor: What have we got?

Paramedic 1: Male, 42 years old. Multiple gunshot wounds.

ER Doctor: Right. Get him to Room 5 and start all the basics. I'll need the information off his response chart to...

The conversation is overwhelmed by a screaming woman...

Woman: I HAVE TO SEE HIM! LET ME GO, DAMNIT....THAT'S MY FATHER!

Paramedic 2: Ma'am, you have to calm down!

Woman: DAD!

he walks out of the hospital, his hand shaking as he pulls a cigarette out and lights it

The cops arrive a short time later, trying to question the still agitated woman...

Cop 1: Ma'am...please....we....we just want to know what happened. Start with your name.

Woman: A...alright, alright. My name is Ashleigh. Ashleigh Valain. I'm 23 years old...and I...I just came home from college over in London....with my boyfri....er...well I guess now, fiance. We were going to tell my parents at dinner tonight, but as we all got out of the car....a man in a dirty trenchcoat held us up. My...fiance, Evan and my father tried to stop the guy from pointing the gun and me and my mother...but in the struggle...the gun went off....like 6 times. Evan was hit in the knee, but he tried to chase the guy down. He's so courageous...

Cop 2: Alright. What is your father's name?

Ashleigh: Shaun. Shaun Valain.

Cop 1: And your mother's?

Ashleigh: Gillian Valain.

Cop 2: Well, it seems that Evan will be fine, only one shot hit him...in the knee as you said.

Ashleigh: C...can I go see him?

Cop 2: Yes...but they will need some more moments with your father. It's...up in the air.

She pulls out a cell phone and dials a number...

Ashleigh: Hey, Moirae...yeah...I'm at the hospital now...Are you on your way?....Good, oh, that's so sweet of Jackson to say that. What about Anthony?....Yeah...ok. Well...I'll...be here. Yeah...

Raquel:"That bad huh? You want to go inside?"

Colin shakes his head no. Raquel nods and walks into the hospital

About a half hour later, Ashleigh goes to see her father. In the room, there is a doctor standing there, looking over the charts...

Ashleigh: Hello?

Dr.: Ah, hello. I'm Dr. Edward Alexander. I'm here to take a look at your father, Shaun.

Ashleigh: How is he doctor?

Dr. Edward: ~Sigh~...You might want to sit down. This won't be easy for you to hear....

Ashleigh: W...what?

Dr. Edward: Three of the bullets missed major organs...the fourth...hit him right in the liver.

Ashleigh: Oh my God...
