Amanda: That was a very stupid thing to do sweetie.... your dad has taught you better than that..... but don't be too hard on yourself..... we've all made mistakes..... just don't do it again..... and save your skills for when it counts....

.....hmmmn..... but you know you messed up..... I don't think a scolding would upset you like this...... you lost your temper with your father didn't you?

Nicholas: I'm not....I don't know what it is. I want to fight. I do enjoy it....I want to be great. Not just good....great. I mean....didn't it ever bother Uncle Gabe that he wasn't the Legacy? Or Jay....or you?

Amanda: Hmmmn.... it never bothered me..... I knew I didn't have the temperament for it.... I lack the discipline.... the control of my temper..... Jay wasn't worried about not being Legacy.... he was more concerned that he didn't fit in with the rest of us since his primary focus was on scholastic pursuits.....

as for Gabe.... there was a time when it bothered him..... he always used compete so hard with your dad.... it wasn't that he wasn't good enough of course.... but being the Legacy isn't about being the best fighter.... it's about being the leader of this family..... about setting an example.... ensuring the prosperity and happiness of the family continues..... that the legacy continues.

Gabe's destiny was something different....in some ways more significant......Gabe ensures we stay on the right path.... he helps us carry our burden makes us feel safe...... he is Alex's right hand.... and we'd all be lost without him..... It's not something that was thrust upon him..... it's who he is..... just like The Legacy is who your father is......

He gets back upstairs. He sighs loudly and walks back into the suite...

Connor can't help eavesdropping from where he is, and is surprised to find himself feeling even the least bit sympathetic to his brother at this moment and yet..he does.
He glances down at his book with a light sigh

Connor:"Nearly three am and I'm wired still...Maybe a walk or..."

He stands up and heads for the door

Connor walks down the hall in no particular direction before coming across the gym. Oblivious that anybody else might be there he walks over to the treadmill and turns it on. A gentle but steady jog to start off
