"All that...I'm trying to say is...Maybe if...the chance was taken to see what he like now, it would be more of a healing process for you all then you think. That it could show you a good man and not the monster that twenty years of distance has projected him to be to you. If you saw that then maybe that boogieman and the nightmares he brings will die..."

"I'm not going to make claims like its going to reverse all the damage that was done. I'm just...I can't help but think it would be a healthier option for your sake...

Alex: Oh they'll get what they're owed and more.

Ewan: I can see why you'd think that Colin..... but it isn't about fear..... I don't fear it happening again...... I'd sooner die than fail my family again like I failed them 20 years ago.

And we're not blind to what's happening in the present...... we're happy that your father has made these positive changes in his life. Honestly..... but he isn't a new man..... we've seen this man before..... the man he was when we first knew him..... long before you or Lexi were born....even before he found the alcohol..... our friend Irish...... the man who eventually became the monster. I'm not saying he'd do those things again...... I'm saying that although he may seem like a new man to you, and that's great..... he isn't...... he is still Ashley O'Ryan..... he is the man that did those things..... and enjoyed it.

It's been well documented that we can't forgive those things..... I suppose I've never really made a point of saying that we can't forget them either.... as much as we want to.

I don't expect you to understand that Colin.... and as a young man who is about to get married to a beautiful woman himself and contemplate starting a family of his own...... I sincerely pray that you never have to understand what I'm saying.

We have been trying our absolute best to put this behind us..... you have my word on that...... I'm sorry if that isn't enough Colin...... but it's all we have to give.
