Alexis: Didn't help what? How you thought of her? What things about her family?

After a few minutes, Alexis gets off of the phone and sighs.

Alexis: Sorry about that... I guess Colin tried to talk to Mandy, and it kind of got out of hand.

Alexis: It sounded like most of it was a misunderstanding on both sides... and then Colin just let everything out, but not at Mandy, or at least not just at Mandy... he was being kind of vague on that part.

Alex: Suppose we'll have to see what Mandy has to say about it at some point..... clearly sheisn't topo concerned.... she didn't mention it.

Alexis: Apparently, he was trying to have a conversation with her... and somehow "cold hearted bitch" came into the conversation. I guess Mandy agreed... sarcastically... with Colin trying to say that's how he came across to her... and it went downhill from there. The way Colin was saying it, he wanted to have Mandy shoot down what he was saying... but how the hell can you shoot down being a bitch without sounding like one?

Alex: Yeah.... that was never going to end well was it? I can see how she felt backed into a corner. Knowing Mandy she probably tried to walk away before she lost her temper....... but that probably just made things worse....

Alexis: They both have strong feelings for Micah... but are so completely opposite they can't even talk to each other.

She sighs again.

Alexis: And it would not surprise me in the least if there wasn't at least some mention of family in there.

She closes her eyes, looking pained again, and suddenly paler.

Alexis: I... I don't feel good all of a sudden....

She faints.

Alex's reflexes are quick enough that he catches her as she falls. He lowers her to the floor and checks her vitals.

Alex: Lexi? LEXI!

Alexis seems to simply be asleep, so completely out that she doesn't even respond to Alex's voice.

Alex makes the decision to phone his mother.

Alex: Mum.... it's Alex..... are you and dad still anywhere near the new house? Lexi's unconscious..... her pulse and breathing's fine but she's non responsive......

Jillian: Yes, I was coming to visit you two anyway. I'll be there in five minutes. Alex get her to the couch, cold compress to the head. If she has a fever, let's work on breaking it, alright?

Alex: OK...... I understand..... I'll leave the door open.

He hangs up, gently moves Lexi to the couch and opens her mouth to check she isn't swallowing her tongue. He opens the front door then returns to the kitchen, putting a bag of frozen peas inside a tea-towel and presses it to Lexi's forehead.

Jillian arrives in exactly four minutes and walks right in. She goes over to the couch and starts taking some vitals....

Jillian: Hmm...I keep forgetting how young she really is. Alex, we have to get her to the hospital. She has mono. Her body is extremely stressed out and exhausted. I'll take her. You get a couple changes of clothes for her...and...take your pizza out. We don't want your house burnt down while we are gone.

He quickly kisses Lexi on the forehead before getting the pizza out, switching off the oven and packing some things for Lexi at lightening speed.

They pile into Jillian's car and head off to Good Samaritan hospital. Jillian takes care of all the paperwork and they check Lexi in and she gets a very nice, private room. She's set up on an I.V. drip to get her fluids. One of the doctors is consulting with Jillian...

Doctor: Does stress run in her family?

Jillian: I'm not totally sure. Alex?

Doctor: I see. History of alcohol abuse in the family. Any other illnesses that might be generational?

Jillian: Well, her father does have some recent medical problems, but they all stemmed from his drinking.

Doctor: I see. Well, thank you Dr. Edwards. I'll run some tests. I'm sure you'd like to oversee them.

Jillian: I would like that, yes.

Doctor: Alex, is it? Stay with your wife, I'll sign off on it. You'll need to contact her family about her situation.
