Gabe: Dude....really?

Jayden: Jessica, will you excuse me a second?

Jayden puts the phone on mute...

Jayden: Gabe, if you don't shut up...I swear to you...I will throw my bedpan at you....

[Pockets]

Jessica: You... ah... kind of just did....

[Cryonix]

Jayden realizes he can still hear Jessica. He turns red again....

Jayden: Nikki...please, could you...get Gabe out of here so I can...um...

Gabe: Close the deal? Fine, 'nuff said.

Gabe has Nikki get off his lap and he stands up, holding her hand...

Gabe: Best of luck, kid.

Jayden: Thanks Gabe. I apprecate it.

Gabe: Just don't mention your small penis...

Jayden: GODDAMN IT GABRIEL!

Gabe and Nikki leave the room and Jay takes the phone off mute....

Jayden: I'm sorry about that, Jessica....but I couldn't help but um....overhear you. I guess...I did kind of just approach you, didn't I?

[Pockets]

Jessica: In a very indirect way, but yes, you did.

[Cryonix]

Jayden: Well...Jessica. I've liked you for...well, since freshman year when we both put in our Rhodes Scholarship applications. I've wanted to ask you out for a long time...but...I didn't think you'd be intrested. But...here goes...

Jessica...I'd love to take you to dinner sometime when I get back to London. Would you like to go out with me?

[Pockets]

There is a momentary pause, then Jessica's voice in almost whispered excitement.

Jessica: A regular knight escorting me for the evening... I'd love to!

[Cryonix]

Jayden: That's great! I...that's wonderful...but...knight? What do you mean?

[Pockets]

Jessica: Well, you went out and defended your brother like that... really brave of you. Like a knight in shining armor.

[Cryonix]

Jayden: Well, I would love to escort you to dinner, my lady. I'll call you when I get back into town, alright?

[Pockets]

Jessica giggles.

Jessica: I'll be waiting.

[Cryonix]

Jayden hangs up the phone....and the hospital jumps when they hear a scream of 'YEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!' from Jayden's room. Then it dawns on him...

Jayden: Oh shit....where am I going to take her?

Ewan walks in grinning. He sits on the edge of Jayden's bed.

Ewan: I take it things went.... well?

Jayden looks like he's on cloud nine....

Jayden: Yeah....thanks, Uncle. I just....aw, man...I...I've never been on one of these things before. What should I do...where should I take her? ...Wait...

He searches pictures on his phone and finds a picture of him and Jessica studying. He blushes at the memory...

Jayden: Um....that's her...

[Pockets]

Nikki comes charging in, brandishing her phone.

Nikki: What the hell did you say to her? She's going on about how she's going to be a lady on the town with her knight!

[Cryonix]

Jayden looks at Nikki...

Jayden: Hey, that was all her. I told her about the fight...all of a sudden, I'm her knight in shining armour....

[Cruel Britannia]

Ewan looks at the picture and seems genuinely impressed.

Ewan: She's very pretty Jayden.... I guess the old Edwards charm strikes again.

.... and as regards your date.... I know just the place.

[Pockets]

Nikki rolls her eyes and chuckles.

Nikki: Yeah, that sounds about right.

Jayden: Um...something I should know about?

He looks at Ewan...

Jayden: W...what place, Uncle?

Gabe comes rushing in after Nikki...

Gabe: What the hell?

There is a gleam across Ewan's eyes.

Nikki: She loves the whole Camelot romance type stuff. Jousting knights and all that. But she hates what she calls "dumb jocks". Go figure.

[Cryonix]

Gabe: She does? Well that's great. Jay actually won a debate on how the term 'magic' shaped the modern western world.

Jay: YOU REMEMBER THAT?

Gabe: Dude, the family was incredibly impressed at that presentation. It's why mom had your I.Q. tested in the first place. Unc remembers it, too.

[Pockets]

Nikki smirks.

Nikki: She is going to love you.

Ewan: Vividly.... we submitted your ideas for publication in a sociology journal.... but they wouldn't accept an application from someone so young..... snobs.

Jayden: It'll probably help the fact that I fence and practice kendo also....huh?
