She shakes her head.

Ashley:"No...me...me ending up in the 'ospital. Wot you said to me in that restaurant, it upset me and that was the extra little kick me body needed to 'ave this 'appen."

he sighs

"One more bottle...maybe two...I'd be 'ere but worse. Much worse. Another bender and...roit now you would be consoling Alexis at me grave..."

Alex: I see....Well I certainly don't want to be doing that any time soon.... she's very excited about the prospect of having her dad back.

.... I'm glad you've been able to find some positives out of this.... but for what it's worth I'm sorry for losing my temper.... I had planned to apologise at the restaurant after I'd cooled down a little.... but you kinda nearly died before I had the chance.

Alex: The only thing that matters is that you're very.... passionate about keeping Alexis safe and happy.... so am I.... I think that's most likely where the clash came from.

he looks at the table, feeling dejected

Alex: I'll be making a note of "You can provide for her" for future refence..... but do you know why I proposed right after you specifically told me not to? Contrary to popular belief I didn't do it to spite you. I did it because you made me realise that we were both trying to make Lexi's decisions for her.... you did it..... I was doing it by "waiting til I thought she was ready"..... we weren't giving her a choice. So I gave her a choice.... and she said yes.

Not that I have any right to give you advice.... but maybe you should let your kids decide whether they deserve better than you or not.

Alex: Short answer..... Hell no. Long answer.....Well.... I'm sure he'd speak to you.... considering mine and Alexis' situation...... But an apology? To be honest..... I wouldn't hold my breath. It's worth a shot I guess.... but I don't really think you can mend that particular bridge.

Alex: I'm sorry I couldn't give you a more positive answer.... but hey.... at least now he'll have to at least be a little bit civil towards you..... maybe you'll finally get a chance to try and make it right.

You'll allways feel guilty about it.... just like I'll always have a dent in my head because of it.... but that doesn't mean you need to punish yourself for it forever..... I mean if you had gone to jail for it you'd have done your time by now.
